KATHUA, June 11: Castigating Union as well as State Government for enhancing the hardships of common people, District Congress Committee (DCC) Kathua staged protest demonstration and dharna at Mukherjee Chowk here today.
The protesters raised slogans against the Government for hike in prices of petroleum products and other essential commodities and also against the non-availability of ration, sugar besides power and drinking water crisis in the entire district. The protest was held under the leadership of DCC president Kathua, Subash Gupta (Ex-MLC).

Dr Manohar Lal said that hardly after a month of the formation of new government, it started showing his hidden deadly teeth by raising the fare hike in Railways. Now, after few months of ups and downs, Government had increased the price of petroleum products to an unexpected graph. This hike in petrol, diesel and even LPG price is badly affecting the common man.
Babu Singh flayed the Govt for its anti-people policies and said that BJP leadership instead of providing relief to people is busy in singing own praises and befooling people by celebrating its two years of existence. Why the BJP people are silent ?
Subash Gupta alleged that Central Government said it is not the hike of petroleum however, the rates of other commodities would soon be on sky as the transportation charges will increase. The protesters demanding roll back in the hike warned the government ready to face intensified protests throughout the country.
DCC chief also raised the issues of wages to daily rated workers and their early regularization, five marlas plots to border villagers and construction of Medical College at Kathua at the earliest. He also demanded to exempt the VAT/ Sales Tax in the State on the sale of LPG, petrol, diesel, kerosene oil.
