JAMMU, June 11: Yuva Rajput Sabha (YRS) today held a protest demonstration here at Press Club demanding establishment of Rajput Welfare Board (RWB) and declaration of September 23 (birth anniversary of Maharaja Hari Singh) as a gazetted holiday.
Hundreds of Rajput youth gathered today at Press Club, Jammu and raised slogans for the establishment of Rajput Welfare Board in J&K. The protest was led by Surinder Singh Gilli, president, Yuva Rajput Sabha.
While addressing the media persons, Gilli said that Maharaja Hari Singh, who was Maharaja of the whole State, gave a new path to the development of the State and finished untouchability in the State and enhanced girl child education in the State, but in present time those persons who did nothing for the State, a Gazetted holiday has been declared on their birthday as well as death anniversary, but no holiday has been declared on the birthday of Maharaja Hari Singh ji.
He further added that the Rajputs are second in population in whole of J&K, and majority of the Rajput families are below the poverty line and suffer a lot for making two time meal.
