SRINAGAR, June 11: Independent legislator Engineer Abdul Rashid Sheikh today raised the issue of including his father in Below Poverty Line (BPL) category by Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution (CAPD) Department and urged Government to take action in this regard.
During the question hour, Rashid said the CAPD Department officials themselves showed the income of his father as Rs 10,000 and included in BPL list. “Also, the names of our family members including my mother were wrong on the ration card. If this is the situation with us then one can imagine the situation of common people,” he said.
The CAPD Minister Chowdhary Zulfkar who was present in the House said he will seek details from Deputy Commissioner in this regard. The CAPD Minister further said that Rashid’s father falls in non-priority category. He said the legislator Rashid has now been included in the exclusion category.
After the answer of CAPD Minister, the legislator Rashid asked him to act against those who have committed this error.
It may be mentioned here that that Tehsildar Khour in Jammu and two other revenue officials were suspended for the BPL error while no action was taken against the officials of Langate.
