Srinagar, June 11: Government today said it will send a Minister to every State where Kashmiri students were allegedly facing harassment.
During the Question Hour, National Conference working president and Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) from Beerwah Omar Abdullah raised the issue of harassment of Kashmiri students outside the State. Omar said: “I have been getting phone calls since last night that some of our Kashmiri youth, who are undergoing training under Udaan project in MBD Company are facing harassment there and police is taking no notice of the issue”.
The NC working president demanded investigation and intervention of the Government. Taking note of the issue, Deputy Chief Minister Dr Nirmal Singh said the State Government would take corrective measures wherever necessary to infuse confidence among the students. “The students, wherever they are outside the State, I have talked to Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh and Chief Ministers of various states about them,” he said.
The Deputy Chief Minister also said that the State Government has decided to send a Minister in all the states who will talk to the students and also call the Chief Minister or a minister there to infuse confidence among the students.
Dr Singh said the issue raised by Omar would be investigated immediately. “About the incident which the leader of the opposition raised, we will immediately investigate the matter and take corrective measures,” he said.
