RAMBAN, June 11: Banihal police nabbed a driver along with large quantity of illicit liquor pouches.
As per police sources, on specific information, a team from Banihal police station led by Inspector Nazir Ahmed Dar laid a naka at T-Chowk, Railway Station Banihal and intercepted Omni Van bearing registration number JK19-3486, which was on its way to Anantnag from Batote.
During checking, police team recovered 212 illicit liquor pouches concealed in jute bag and arrested the driver of the vehicle.
The accused has been identified as Zakir Hussain Gujjar, son of Mohammad Latief Gujjar of Tringla Batote.
He was carrying the illicit liquor pouches to Valley for selling to earn illegitimate profits.
A case under FIR Number 68/2016 under Section 48-A Excise Act has been registered at police station Banihal and investigation started.
