JAMMU, June 12: Castigating the J&K Government  for no responsive approach on the issue of reservation in promotions, the representatives of different socio-religious organizations have appealed the Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti to immediately intervene and restore the reservation in promotions, which was enacted none other than her father Mufti Mohd Sayeed.
The appeal was made during a joint meeting of Jammu Kashmir Reserve Categories Employees Association (JKRCEA), Forum of Retired Employees and Sarpanches and Panches of all reserved categories, at Guru Ravi Dass Mandir, here today.
The participants expressed serious concern over deliberate breach of reservation policy of the State by not taking up the issue of reservation in promotions in the ongoing session of State Assembly. They also warned that if the Government fails in restoring the reservation in promotions for the SC/ST/OBC/RBA and ALC category employees in the current session itself, they would launch mass agitation throughout the State, which according to them would lead to political debacle.
Dr Sanjay Bhasin, chief of JKRCEA, while speaking on the occasion, said that the State Government. was a party in the case of reservation in promotions lying pending before Supreme Court but unfortunately it evaded from contesting in favour of its own legislation.
Piran Ditta, president, Guru Ravi Dass Sabha, said that in case reservation in promotions is not restored, it would expose the anti-reservation intent of Government and the reserved classes would be deprived of their rights.  “If the Government does not  take  any remedial step to restore the reservation in promotion for the reserved classes in the current session itself, we will  be left with no other option but to come on roads for mass protest against this” he added.
Others, who spoke on the occasion, included Mohinder Bhagat,  Prof G L  Thappa, Dr  M L  Rao, Dr  Zabeer Ahmed, Dr  Bias Dev, Hem Raj Phonsa,  Brij Rana, Pawan Bhagat and  Manoj Kumar.
