UDHAMPUR, June 12: Udhampur Police today seized 1.45 kg poppy straw, which was being smuggled from Kashmir to Jammu by the accused persons in a load carrier. Three persons have been arrested in this connection.
The load carrier, a Mahindra Binger, bearing registration number PB01F-4289, was intercepted by a Police party, led SHO Udhampur, Inspector O P Chib and SI Omkar Singh. Police seized the poppy straw and arrested the driver, identified as Lakhveer Singh alias Lakha of Ludhiana, and his two associates namely Jahraw Singh of Pamain Kalan Ludhiana and Prem Singh of Jagdeep Nagar Ludhiana.
In this connection, a case under section 8/15 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Udhampur.
