The signing of the agreement was warmly hailed with clapping and cheers by the members of delegations of two countries.

Speaking on the occasion, President Pranab Mukherjee congratulated the President of Ghana for having been conferred the Co-Chairmanship of the UN Group for Sustainable Development.
Considering the importance that India attaches to African countries including Ghana, Pranab Mukherjee recalled that during the 3rd India-Africa Forum Summit in 2015 at New Delhi, India had committed an assistance of 10 billion USD to African countries. He also announced increase in the scholarship programmes offered by India to Ghana, particularly in the field of IT.
President Pranab Mukherjee assured President John Dramani Mahama of all kinds of support from India in implementing new developmental strategies for which India has considerable experience. He noted that from a net importer of food grains till a few decades ago, India has now emerged as a net exporter which is a distinction in itself.
President Pranab Mukherjee called upon his Ghana counterpart to come forward and work jointly against the menace of international terrorism and said that we should firmly reject the so called argument about “good” terrorism or “bad” terrorism.
