BARAMULLA, June 16: Director General of Police Prisons, J&K, SP Vaid today paid a surprise visit to District Jail, Baramulla and took stock of various security and administrative arrangements of the Jail.
Vaid was accompanied by DIG Prisons, Dr Mohd Sultan Lone, DIG NKR, Uttam Chand, SSP Baramulla, Imtiyaz Hussain, Superintendent at Jail, Baramulla, Mushtaq Ahmad Malla and other officers.
After taking over the charge of Director General of police Prisons, J&K, this was first visit of the SP Vaid. During the visit, Vaid took stock of various security and administrative arrangements of the Jail besides needs of repair and renovation. He also inspected the working of CCTV cameras installed for security purposes, having round the clock operational monitoring.
Later, the DG visited all the barracks of the Jail, Jail hospital and vocational centre. While interacting with prisoners, the DG enquired about the facilities being provided to inmates especially food and medical facilities and listened to their issues and grievances.
The DG also directed the technical team to repair and renovate the kitchen of prisoners’ barracks and directed Superintendent at Jail, Baramulla, for arranging interest based vocational courses for engaging Jail inmates.
