‘Kirtan Darbar’ on Martyr Day of Guru Arjun Dev organised

JAMMU, June 16:   On the eve of  Martyr’s Day of  Sri Guru Arjun Dev Ji Maharaj, an impressive ‘Kirtan Darbar’ was organized at Gurudwara Baba Chanda Singh Ji, Jain Bazar, here by the Management Committee of the Gurdwara and Nirvair Social organization with gaiety and religious fervour.
Sangat from surrounding areas of Jammu city reached the Gurdwara to attend the religious programme.   A community lunch was also arranged for the devotees. A  stall of  cold and sweet water (Chhabeel) was also organized for the general public.
Dr Tejinder Singh, Parveen Singh, Bibi Nirmal Kour and Bhai  Sukhdev Singh  recited the Kirtan and highlight the martyrdom of Sri Guru Arjun Dev Ji  for the nation.
While speaking on the occasion Sukhbir Singh, president of the Committee critised the role of Revenue Department for not allotting the land for reconstruction of Guru Charan Kamal Asthan Ser Manjila Sahib which was demolished by some miscreants in the year 1984. He stressed upon the Police to reopen the case and arrest the persons who had stolen the `Nishan Sahib’.
He  also demanded that the  Jamrud Fort  located near  Bab-e-Khyber at the entrance to the  Khyber Pass in the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) of  Pakistan which was constructed by great Sikh warrior Jathedar Hari Singh  Nalwa Commander-in-Chief of the Khalsa Army be saved and  the Government of India should  take up the matter with the Pakistani Govt  to save this fort and allow Sangat from India to visit the place.
He also demanded that on the Tri-centenary (300th) Shahidi Divas of Banda Singh  Bahaduri the J&K Government should announce the name of  Kunjwani Chowk as Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Chowk; in the memory of General Bikram Singh, (the war hero) a land near Kala Kendar be allotted to the Sikh community so that yearly function be organised there; declare the Gurudwara Guru Nanak Dev Ji Chand  Nagar as historical place and put it on Tourist map; shops of Municipal Committee in Chand Nagar falling in the vicinity  of Historical Gurdwara be removed; Minority Community status to Sikhs be provided and appoint Punjabi teachers in School/Colleges, moreover,  Govt  should declare the day as Gazetted holiday on the Martyr’s Day of the great Guru.
All the office bearers of Management Committee and  Nirvair Social Organization were present on the occasion.
