SRINAGAR : As many as 876 AYUSH doctors have been employed on contractual basis while 199 posts of Ayurvedic Medical Officers (AMOs) have been filled in the Health Department of Jammu and Kashmir.
Minister for Revenue, Relief & Rehabilitation Syed Basharat Bukhari, replying on behalf of the Health Minister Bali Bhagat to a question of S Charanjeet Singh, informed the Legislative Council that there are 244 sanctioned posts of AMOs in Health Department.
He said out of these 244 posts, 199 are in position and remaining 45 posts have been referred to recruiting agency for selection of suitable candidates.
The Minister informed that 876 AYUSH doctors have been engaged on contractual basis in the State.
He said the government has formulated an employment policy for BAMS doctors, adding that there are 289 unemployed BAMS graduates registered with Board of Ayurvedic and Unani Systems of Medicine in the State. (AGENCIES)
