AIBEA, AIOBA leaders meet Jaitley over closure of 5 associate banks

CHENNAI, June 20:  In the backdrop of All India Bank Employees Association (AIBEA) and All India Bank Officers Association (AIBOA) protesting against the proposed closure of five Associate Banks and their merger with State Bank of India (SBI),the Union leaders met  Finance Minister Arun Jaitley in New Delhi recently.    Informing this to UNI here today, AIBEA  General Secretary CH Venkatachalam
said we conveyed to Mr Jaitley our
strong protest and concern about the proposed consolidation and merger moves, particularly in respect of the Associate Banks.
He said, ‘we had pointed out that the closure of these banks and merger with SBI was not warranted and  are avoidable and added
the Union leaders also conveyed to the Finance Minsiterthat this agenda need not be priority of the  government now when the banks are facing serious challenges of huge bad loans and the urgent need is to take effective steps to recover these bad loans and strengthen the banks.’    On the initiative of CPI National Secretary D Raja, the AIBEA and AIBOA were
represented at the meeting by AIBEA
President Mr Rajen Nagar, Mr Venkatachalam,  Mr B S Ramababu Secretary AIBEA,
AIBOA President  Mr S S Shisodia
and General Secretary Mr S Nagarajan.
