Over 13.75 lakh vehicles registered in J&K

SRINAGAR, June 20: Government today said a total of 13, 75, 888 vehicles have been registered in Jammu and Kashmir upto March 31, 2016.
In a written reply to a question of Member of Legislative Council (MLC) Naresh Kumar Gupta, Minister incharge Transport, said the 13, 75, 888 vehicles including all public transport, private, Government, passenger vehicles, load carriers and two wheelers have been registered in the State.
According to Government figures, there are 30486 buses and mini-buses, 55883 trucks, 42275 taxis, 385386 private cars/ Wagons, 14356 jeeps, 57851 auto rickshaws and tempos, 24446 tractors, 802 trailers and 52147 other vehicles. The Minister said 41 pollution checking centres are checking the pollution of vehicles and issuing pollution under control certificates to fit in the vehicles.
He said that amount of Rs. 156.97 crores has been collected during 2015-16 on account of various taxes including violations of traffic laws.
