Voice of KPs highlights problems of migrants

JAMMU, June 20: An Executive Body meeting of Voice of KPs was held under the chairmanship of Roshan Lal Raina at Jagti today.
The meeting while highlighting the problems being faced by displaced community in general and the camp dwellers in particular appealed the authorities to start the repair works in camp as the coming rainy season will put the camp dwellers in more hardships.
It expressed concern over delay in commissioning of sewerage treatment plant the dead line of which has exceeded more than one year ago. The meeting stressed the need to provide employment to less qualified youth through police recruitment drives in camps. The relief organization was appealed to construct more community halls as the existing ones are not sufficient.
It also demanded that steps be taken to renovate the quarters at Purkhoo for providing shelter to those poor families putting up on rent and having no resource to bear the same.
Raina expressed satisfaction over the work culture being introduced by Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti in the State and termed her recent statement in the Assembly as totally sincere. He said that people must extend full cooperation and support to her. “It was for the first time after displacement when she spoke her heart regarding return of the community”, he added.
He said her recent visit to Mata Kheer Bhawani shrine is worth appreciation and community was repeatedly saying that KPs can’t become canon fodder on the name of return which was acknowledged by CM. Mehbooba’s directives to administration to take strict action against encroachers is also praise worthy, he added.
Ravinder Raina another leader of VoK in his address said that KPs have never run away from talks and if Hurriyat wants to talk with community it should come with open policy as being patriotic the KPs can’t make any compromise on patriotism for which the community sacrificed every thing.
Chuni Lal Koul, Rattan Lal Fotedar, Babloo Singh, Vinod Tickoo, S N Bhandari, Munoo Ji and Pradimun Krishan also attended the meeting.
