JAMMU, June 22: Seeking fulfillment of their demands, the Non-Gazetted employees of Jammu University today went on two-hour token strike, here today.
The protesting employees raised slogans in support of their demands and threatened to go on indefinite strike if the JU administration does not take prompt action on their issues. Under the banner of Jammu University Non-Gazetted Employees Union, the employees assembled near the administration block and staged a dharna for two hours.
They were demanding removal of 2750 Grade, cancellation of order on disengagement of eight employees of Human Genetics Department, 17 percent promotion quota for Graduate class IV employees as per Kashmir University and creation of posts of different categories.
While addressing the employees, president NGEU, Vijay Kumar warned to intensify the protest if their demands are not conceded within a short period of time.
He appealed the Chancellor and Pro-Chancellor of Jammu University to personally intervene and ensure that all genuine demands of the Non-Gazetted employees are conceded for a congenial atmosphere in the campus.
