Driver, associate injured as truck plunges into gorge

JAMMU, June 22: A driver and his associate were injured, when the truck, they were traveling in, skidded-off the road and plunged into gorge near Makerkote area on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway.
The ill-fated vehicle bearing registration number JKO5E-8148 was loaded with FCI ration and was on its way to Banihal from Jammu, when the driver lost control over the vehicle and it landed into gorge, resulting into the injuries to two persons including driver. The reason behind the accident was negligent driving by the driver.
After getting information, police team rushed to the spot and shifted the injured persons to Primary Health Centre (PHC) Ramsoo, from where they were later referred to Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Banihal for advanced treatment.
The injured have been identified as Mohammad Farooq (driver), son of Shamas Din Sheikh of Finter Billawar, district Kathua and Mehraj Din, son of Imtiaz Khan of Rafiabad, Baramulla.
A case under FIR Number 38/16 under Section 279 and 337 RPC has been registered and investigation started.
