CRPF jawan among 3 killed

RAMBAN, Sept 21: Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawan and Naib Sarpanch were among three persons killed and five others sustained injuries when a van, they were travelling in, plunged into nullah at Chambalbas under the jurisdiction of Banihal Police Station this evening.
The ill-fated vehicle bearing registration number JK19-929 was on its way from Banihal to Neel when it met with accident due to the negligence of driver, who failed to negotiate a curve resulting into vehicle plunging into gorge.
On the receipt of information, a police party immediately swung into action and started rescue operation. All the eight injured occupants of the ill-fated vehicle were brought out of the gorge and rushed to Sub-District Hospital, Banihal where three of them were pronounced as brought dead.
All the five injured persons were, later, referred to Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS), Soura for specialized treatment. Their condition was stated to be out of danger when reports last came in.
The deceased have been identified as CRPF jawan Mohd Sharif, son of Abdul Qayoom of Neel, his son Raja Rameez and Naib Sarpanch of Chambalbas Mohd Shafi, son of Faqir Chand.
The injured persons have been identified as Zarifa Begum, wife of Mohd Sharif, her daughter, Mohd Rafiq, son of Atta Mohd, Aijaz Ahmed, son of Abdul Rehman and Ghulam Mohd, son of Fatta Gujjar.
