Foundation stone of Gurdawara laid

RAJOURI,  June 24:  The foundation stone of  a Gurdawara of Baba Banda Singh Bahadur was laid at his home town Rajouri here today.
The foundation stone of this historic Gurdwara was laid in present of State Gurdwara Parbandhak Board president T S Wazir near Mini Stadium Rajouri in presence of Kar Sevak Baba Bachan Singh, Baba Mohinder Singh  and Jasbir Singh and other Sikh religious leaders from Delhi,  Haryana, Punjab and other parts of J&K state.
Baba Banda Singh Bahadur, who was born in Hindu family at Rajouri  was baptized  and motivated by the great Sikh Guru Gobind Singh Ji. He fought against the Mughal emperor  and conquered most parts of Punjab and established Khalsa rule.
A large number of members of Sikh and Hindu community participated in the event and also Sikh youth demonstrated martial arts skills (Gatka) during the religious function. DGPC Rajouri president Jasbir Singh Tiger was also  present on the occasion.
