Mehbooba flags off ladies special bus service in Jammu

JAMMU: Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti today flagged-off an all women special bus service in the city.

A similar bus service was launched in Srinagar in April with mostly working women and girl students making best use of the facility.

Speaking on the occasion, Mehbooba said “After the huge success of this experiment in Srinagar, the Government has decided to provide similar facility to women commuters in other cities and towns of the State. The frequency of these services in the two capital cities will also be increased.”

The special buses here will ply on hourly basis. The services will initially start from Panjtirthi to Gandi Nagar-Shastri Nagar, Panjtirthi to Bohri-Anand Nagar and Panjtirthi to Bantalab-Roopnagar.

“With this initiative, I can now assure that my sisters and daughters need not be concerned about intimidation in public buses,” the chief minister said. (AGENCIES)
