AKHNOOR, June 25: Dogra Sadar Sabha (DSS) under the chairmanship of its president Th Gulchain Singh Charak convened one day delegate session of its Khour unit, wherein, delegates drawn from Khour and its adjoining areas mostly from border belt were present to discuss the issues in large number.
Initiating the proceedings Sukhdev Singh gave a brief detail of the unit of the Khour Dogra Sadar Sabha and senior member KP Singh gave a brief historical back-ground of the DSS and its Khour unit. Ludermani Bhagat, Joginder Singh, Babu Ram (Retd ZEO), Sukhdev Kumar (Sarpanch) and Suraj Singh (Lect) also spoke on the occasion. All the delegates appreciated the secular credentials of the DSS and its role in maintaining communal harmony during all the hours of crisis.
The delegates extended gratitude to the DSS for highlighting the issues of Khour area including the recent incident of molestation of a local girl by SHO of the concerned police station; issue of giving honour to Late Chamail Singh, who was murdered in a Pakistan Jail and to ensure compensation to the family at par with the family of Sarbjeet Singh of Punjab, who was also killed under similar circumstances.
Mr Charak informed the audiences that on the persistent demand of DSS, Govt of India has agreed to give the relief to the family of Chamail Singh at par with that of given to Sarbjeet Singh. He also mentioned that issue of further hike in remuneration of Numberdars and Chowkidars will be taken up with the State Govt. Mr Charak also declared that matter of recruitment and other related issues shall be taken up with the Govt. He demanded special recruitment drive in Police, Military and Para-military forces from the border and Kandi belts of Jammu region.
Prem Sagar Gupta, GA Khwaja, Brig Retd MS Jamwal, S. Hakumat Singh, S Kulbir Singh and other senior leaders of the DSS also spoke on the occasion. Central Working Committee member of DSS were also present.
