Rs 1,724.61 cr aid provided to 2014 flood sufferers

SRINAGAR, June 25: An amount of Rs 1,724.61 crore financial assistance has been provided to 2014 flood sufferers in Jammu and Kashmir.
This information was given by Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation Syed Basharat Bukhari in reply to a question by Usman Abdul Majid in the Legislative Assembly today.
The Minister informed the House that to meet the requirement for rehabilitation of affected people and restoration of public infrastructure, a package for an amount of Rs 43,959.56 crore with the prior approval of State Cabinet was submitted to Centre in 2014, for consideration.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, however, announced a Reconstruction Plan amounting to Rs 80,068 crore for the State on November 7, 2015.
He said an amount of Rs 1,194.00 crore has been released under PMDP-2015, for providing additional financial assistance to flood victims of 2014 whose houses were damaged and out of which an amount of Rs 956.57 crore stands disbursed in favour of the flood victims.
He said this financial assistance is over and above the relief provided under SDRF norms and Prime Ministers National Relief Fund (PMNRF). The Minister said the Government has provided relief to the flood victims of 2014 in the State as admissible under SDRF norms.
He said additional financial assistance was also provided under PMNRF and PMDP, over and above the SDRF norms. He said however, more than 10,500 cases are pending release of financial assistance under PMNRF and PMDP-2015.
The Minister said in Bandipora constituency on the directions of court, 1,638 applications have been received by the Deputy Commissioner for re-verification of the damages. He said out of these 113 applications pertaining to Bandipora constituency have been found genuine for which relief as admissible under SDRF norms will be considered soon.
The Minister said that Rs 1724.61 crore financial assistance was provided to flood sufferers of 2014 in the State under SDRF, PMNRF and PMDP 2015. He said in Bandipora and Sonawari constituencies, Rs 9.10 crore under SDRF, Rs 22.32 crore under PMNRF and Rs 32.94 crore under PMDP were provided as relief to the flood sufferers of 2014.
