Army organizes multi specialty medical camp

RAJOURI, June 25: As a prelude to 68th Jhangar Day celebration to be held on July 4, a mass multi super specialty medical as well as blood donation camp was conducted today at Nowshera by the Army deployed at Jhangar with an aim to provide necessary specialist medical care to the needy people of remote border areas.
A total of 23 doctors from Nowshera, Rajouri and Jammu attended the camp along with Army doctors and support staff. A vaccination and immunization camp along with Thallasemia awareness drive was also conducted by the Army at the venue with the help of Dr Sanjeev Dhingra from Jammu Medical College who enlightened the local populace about the prevention and management of Thallasemia.
In addition, Neonatologist, Dr Anju Bhatti, gave a lecture on prevention of Neonatal diseases and apprised about congenital anomalies to the attentive civilian and military personnel.
A total of 1532 patients were examined by the team of specialists which include pediatricians, eye specialists, orthopedic specialist, surgeons, general physicians, ENT, gynecologists and dental surgeons. The patients were also given free medicines.
Moreover, a team of five doctors led by BMO Nowshera, Dr Suresh Gupta, screened 59 children for further referral and management under the Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram. Army also organized a blood donation camp at the venue and donated 51 units of blood on the spot.
Army Officials, Ravinder Raina, MLA Nowshera, SDM Nowshera, Additional SP and SDPO Nowshera also graced the event.
