Srinagar, July 1: Dozens of structures suffered damages due to windstorm in Pulwama district last night.
Reports said nearly 70 residential houses and 16 cowsheds were damaged in the windstorm.
Deputy Commissioner Pulwama Muneer-ul-Islam along with a team of revenue officers visited many affected areas since today morning.
He asked the revenue officers to asses the damage caused to crops due to windstorm and submit it to his office as soon as possible.
The DC said hundreds of poplar trees fell due to fast wind and some trees have fallen on 33000 KV line affecting electricity.
He added that 3 Tehsils Pulwama, Shahoora and Kakapora have suffered maximum damage due to winds. Hundreds of Poplar tree have fallen on paddy fields damaging the crop.
Former MP and National Conference leader, Ghulam Nabi Ratanpuri has appealed Government to compensate affected households.
