Sugar prices up on retailers buying

NEW DELHI, July 2:  Sugar prices spurted by Rs 60 per quintal at the wholesale market in the national capital today following persistent buying by stockists and bulk consumers amid thin supplies from mills.
Marketmen said besides strong demand from stockists and bulk consumers such as soft-drinks and ice-cream makers, pause in supplies from mills, mainly resulted surge in sweetener prices.
Sugar mill delivery M-30 and S-30 enquired higher by Rs 60 each to finish at Rs 3,480-3,580 and Rs 3,470-3,570 per quintal, respectively.
In the millgate section, sugar Budhana, Mawana, Thanabhavan and Dorala gained Rs 60 each to settle at Rs 3,560, Rs 3,570,Rs 3,550 and Rs 3,570 per quintal, respectively.
