JAMMU, July 3: Kashmiri Pandit (KP) Sabha, Jammu appealed to State and Central Government to provide adequate security to each and every shrine and temple in the Valley.
In a handout issued, KK Khosa, President, KPS condemned the incidents of desecration of shrines and temples in district Kulgam by anti-social elements who do not want the situation to normalise in the Valley. By indulging in such activities at the instance of militant and anti-national elements, they want to scuttle the efforts of the Government to establish peace and normalcy in the strife torn state and cause a scare among the minority community so that their return and rehabilitation back in the Valley is pushed to the backburner, he added.
Khosa appealed to the State and the Central Government including the security agencies to take stringent measures against the culprits and  provide adequate security to each and every shrine and temple in the Valley so that there will be no repetition of such incidents in future.
The community has been fighting hard for the passage of the Temple and Shrines bill but successive Governments have allowed the issue to drag on with the result that anti-national elements and the land grabbers have been having a field day, he said and appealed to the Government to place central security at all shrines till the passage of the bill to prevent further alienation of the sacred places.
The establishment of the concentrated settlements should also be expedited so that the community can resettle in the Valley and is in a position to take care of these places of worship effectively, he said, adding that this matter should be treated with utmost urgency and there should be no further procrastination in this regard which can prove highly detrimental to the interests of the State in general and the community in particular.
