CUJ organizes lecture on life & philosophy of Swami Vivekananda

JAMMU, July 4: The Swami Vivekanand Chair of Central University of Jammu (CUJ) today organized a lecture on the life and philosophy of Swami Vivekanand, in the Temporary Academic Block, Sainik Colony.
Retired Justice, GD Sharma was chief guest on the occasion while Prof Lokesh Verma, Academic Coordinator of CUJ, presided over the programme and Swami Ekarthanand was special guest.
Justice GD Sharma highlighted the importance of Vedic philosophy and various kinds of Yogas and Yogic kriyas and explained how Swami ji interpreted Bhagvad Gita in his sermons, giving it a true meaning and made it relevant in the contemporary world. He asserted and also explained about the visit of Swamiji in Kashmir, Shri Amarnath Cave Shrine and other areas of country. He expressed concern over degradation of moral and cultural values in youth, especially the student community, exhorting the student community to follow the path of spiritualism, which could make everyone a leader of the world.
Explaining the teachings of Swami Vivekanand, special guest, Swami Ekarthanand asserted that according to Swamiji, “Each soul is potentially divine. “The goal is to manifest this divinity within by controlling nature, external and internal. Do this either by work, or worship or psychic control by philosophy,” he said”.
He further said that teaching and knowledge of Swamiji is still unparallel in the world and youth of country, must learn and adopt the teachings of great saint and philosopher.
Academic coordinator of CUJ, Prof Lokesh Verma asserted that teachings of Swamiji must be taught in educational institutions to develop confidence and leadership qualities among the youth to lead a virtuous life.
Prof S K Sharma, who is heading the Swami Vivekananda Chair in CUJ, highlighted the significant role played by Swami Vivekanand for propagation of Hinduism and made it globally known and accepted.
Earlier, in the beginning of the function, Dr D L Choudhary, Incharge Yoga Center of CUJ and Prof N K Tripathi, Head Deptt of Animal Science & Wild Life of CUJ, introduced Swami Ekartha-nand and Justice G D Sharma to the audience.
