2 arrested for trying to abduct woman

KATRA, July 4: General Railway Police, Katra, has arrested both the persons, who are accused of trying to abduct a woman by forcibly putting her in their auto on June 14 at Katra.
Police has also seized the auto, bearing registration number JK02BB-7129, which was used in the crime. The accused were identified as Mohd Akram alias Rinku of Kundeorian, Katra and driver Ashwani Kumar alias Gandu, resident of Dhanori.
Both the accused had allegedly tried to abduct a married woman by pushing her in the auto. Even as the victim managed to save herself by jumping out from the running auto, she got herself injured as a result of the same. Both the accused were absconding since committing the crime.
Under the supervision of SSP Railway, Katra, Ashok Sharma, a GRP team, led by Inspector Rakesh Kumar and Inspector Narinder Singh Jamwal, conducted a series of raids and finally arrested both the accused, under Section 336/354 and 323 RPC.
