Describing effective communication as the key to realise change, new Information and Broadcasting Minister M Venkaiah Naidu today said he would try to take Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s message of development to the people of the country.
Speaking to reporters after assuming charge as I and B Minister, Mr Naidu said there was a need to ensure proper flow of information to reach people.
“As the Information and Broadcasting minister, my uppermost priority will be to serve the cause of information flow to the people. There is a need to ensure a proper flow of information to the people. My effort would be to take the PM’s message of development to the people of the country,” Mr Naidu said.
Mr Naidu said he had been given a mandate by the Prime Minister to use communication to make people a partners in development.
Lauding the work of his predecessor Arun Jaitley in the ministry, Mr Naidu said, “In spite of his preoccupation in repairing the economy of the country, Mr Jaitley gave quality time and attention for the last two years to this crucial ministry. I will like to carry forward the approach followed by Mr Jaitley.”
Mr Naidu, who was shifted from the Parliamentary Affairs Ministry in yesterday’s reshuffle of the Union Council of Ministers, said as the Parliamentary Affairs Minister, he tried hard to have a proper coordination in both the Houses of Parliament.
Wishing all luck to Mr Ananth Kumar, who was given the charge of Parliamentary Affairs Ministry in the reshuffle, Mr Naidu expressed confidence that Mr Kumar, along with the new Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs S S Ahluwalia and Minister of State Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, would be able to carry out the work in Parliamentary Affairs Ministry effectively.
Mr Naidu said as I and B Minister, he would be guided by the motto of “communication for the development of the community and the country”. Describing Mr Modi as the “hope of the nation”, Mr Naidu said, “After a gap of 30 years, the country has got a able leader with a stable government and people should use this opportunity. “The PM is trying to change the work culture of the country and has been focusing on effective delivery and speedy fulfillment of promises. He is empowering people with information,” Mr Naidu said. Asked whether the huge expansion of the Cabinet did not go contrary to the NDA government principle of ‘maximum governance minimum government’, Mr Naidu said,
“We have a huge country with its huge problems, which requires a huge effort. I do not think that 78 Ministers in the Union Cabinet is a large number. “The PM is focusing on delivery, which is why these inductions have been made,” he added. (UNI)
