JAMMU, July 8: Accusing the State Government of adopting indifferent attitude towards the people’s grievances, former Minister Raman Bhalla today said that traders have been suffering tremendous losses due to erratic power supply for past two and a half months.
“The people are unable to have proper sleep due to power outages during the night hours and traders and the entire business community has been feeling the pinch of the department’s indifferent attitude towards their day-to-day problems,” he said, adding that the repeated power cuts, breakdowns and interruptions, both scheduled and unscheduled, had also resulted into losses of industrial production and discomforts in the domestic sector and to thousands of pilgrims visiting both Vaishno Devi and Amarnath cave shrines.
Former Minister stated this while addressing a deputation from Model Town, Digiana. Holding BJP-led-Central Government and State Government responsible for the plight of PoK DPs, Bhalla said that nothing will be fetched by giving fake assurances and changing roadmaps unless and until Government modifies the intention to solve the PoK DPs issues.
When the BJP and the PDP were not in power, they used to blame the, then Government for the mess during summer. But now, when they are running the show, there is no improvement in the system. Why are they silent and not taking steps to mitigate the problems of the common man?” said Bhalla.
“The problem of power crisis is not only confined to Jammu city, but in the rural belts of Samba , Kathua, Udhampur, Rajouri, Poonch, Ramban, Reasi, Doda and Kishtwar districts, people are forced to face over 14 hour long power cuts”, Bhalla regretted.
