Youth Congress organizes ‘Hum Mein Hai Rajiv’

SAMBA, July 8: Pradesh Youth Congress remembered the former Prime Minister late Rajiv Gandhi by offering floral tributes to his portrait, during a programme “Hum Mein Hai Rajiv”, here today.
In this connection, a function was held under the leadership of Advocate Pankaj Basotra, State general secretary PYC. The programme was organized by Vinod Kumar, AYC President Samba. Rajan Sharma, PYC Secretary, Birender Partap Singh, AYC General Secretary, Gandhi Nagar and many others were present on the occasion.
Basotra while speaking said that the programme has been conceived and conceptualized to propagate the thoughts and innovative initiative of the architect of Modern India Bharat Ratana, Rajiv Gandhi amongst the youth, farmers, women, labourer and every citizen of the country. He said that it is the need of the hour that we inculcate Rajiv’s teachings on social equality inclusive development and global peace.
Deliberating on the Panchayti Raj Amendment Bill which was passed today in the Legislative Assembly, Basotra accused the Government of taking benefit of the majority in the house and blamed the coalition of conspiring to undermine the authority of PRIs to gain political mileage.
Rajan Sharma, State Secretary while speaking said that Congress is committed to ensure the overall development of the State and will continue to fight for strengthening the PRIs and other democratic institutions directly benefiting the common people at grass root level.
Vinod Kumar, AYC President Samba accused the Government of conspiring to manipulate the elections to the Panchayati Raj bodies especially that of sarpanchs which is indicative of the ill-intentions of the present Government to dilute the authority of grass institution of democracy for personal benefit.
Castigating the Government for failing to rehabilitate the flood victims of 2014, regularization of casual labours working in different departments and the ration issue, which is still unresolved, he said that the Government has failed on all fronts and blamed it for ignoring the genuine demands of the people.
