MENDHAR, July 8: SDPO Mendhar and two cops among ten persons were injured in a clash between two groups over the issue of leading Friday prayer at Jamia Masjid in Mustafa Nagar, Mendhar, here today.
The trouble erupted this afternoon when two groups entered into altercation over the issue of leading Friday prayer soon after the devotees assembled at Jamia Masjid for offering Namaz. Soon the exchange of words turned into violent clash and stone pelting on each other, in which seven persons sustained injuries.
As a Police party, led by SDPO Mendhar, Shahid Naeem intervened to control the situation, he along with two constables too sustained injuries in the stone pelting.
The injured persons were identified as Numberdar Manzoor Ahmad Khan, Shoukat Ali Khan (Headmaster), Said Mohd Khan, Zaid Ahmad Khan, Zakir Hussain, Asif Khan and Imran Khan.
According to reports, Police has registered a case in this connection and also detained some miscreants involved in the clash.
