No logic in mourning death of Burhan: Azad

NEW DELHI: Senior Congress leader and former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad today said he doesn’t see any logic in mourning the death of Hizbul Mujahideen militant Burhan Wani, hunted by security forces in the Valley.

Separatist organisations have called for complete State wide shutdown against death of Wani and appealed to the people to participate in his funeral prayers in large numbers.

“Burhan Wani was a terrorist and one who inflicts terror has to die some day. A terrorist is a terrorist and there is no point mourning death of such a person,” said Mr Azad, Leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha.

Eight people have been killed so far as violence erupted in the Valley after the murder of Wani and two other militants in Anantnag district yesterday. (AGENCIES)
