JAMMU, July 9: The activists of Jammu West Assembly Movement today held a protest demonstration demanding regular power and water supply in the area.
The protest was led by Sunil Dimple, president, Jammu West Assembly Movement wherein the residents carrying empty utensils raised slogans against PDD and PHE departments.
Addressing the protesters, Dimple alleged that the Jammu city is facing long power cuts and many localities are without power for last one week.
He alleged that Central Government has also refused to increase the power share to the State from 12% to 25 % as per the agenda of BJP-PDP alliance.
He said the old defunct Janipur Grid Station has totally failed to cater the needs of the people and is totally paralyzed. He said there is no coordination among the senior officers and juniors officers of PDD and this is the reason of the long duration power cuts.
He alleged that newly installed 10 MVA transformer at Manda (Amphalla) has added lot of power cuts in the localities.
Dimple said no water has been supplied in the West constituency for last 15 days in many localities and water supply has been badly affected. He demanded for the construction of the Chenab Water Supply Project of Akhnoor.
Dimple alleged that the BJP-PDP Government has distrusted the people of Jammu and have started selling the drinking water to the people by installing the meters on the drinking water connections.
He demanded the return of the State hydro power projects to the State.
