JAMMU, July 9: Speaker State Assembly and MLA, Gandhi Nagar, Kavinder Gupta today laid the foundation stone for community toilet complex at Model Town, Gangyal.
Accompanied by the officers of Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC), a large number of social & political activists were also present on the occasion.
The toilet complex would be constructed at an estimated cost of around Rs 11 lakh, the funds for it would be provided by the Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) and works will be executed and further maintained by the Sulabh International.
Speaking on the occasion, the Speaker said the complex would be constructed as a part of national “Swachh Bharat Mission” launched by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi. More and more people and social organizations are coming forward to promote the vision of our Prime Minister of making clean surroundings all across the nation, he added.
He said the Government wants to discourage open defecation and arrangements are being made to promote hygienic toilets in the area and moreover the Government is not only promoting community toilet complexes but is also extending all its help in providing help to the poor for constructing toilets and septic tanks at their homes.
The Speaker said “Government is providing best possible resources for realizing this dream of our Prime Minister and we all should work together and start working for this noble cause by imbibing this as our social responsibility,” he added.
