JAMMU, July 9: The management and inmates of Home for Aged and Infirm (popularly known as Vridh Ashram) at Ambphalla celebrated 116th birth anniversary of its founder Ram Nath Prabhakar by performing hawan-poojan.
On the occasion, clothes were distributed among the inmates and workers whereas cash incentives were also paid to each worker.
President Prem Gupta, Former IGP, J&K paid tributes to Prabhakar, who retired as headmaster, devoted his life in service of poor and aged destitute and infirm members of the society.
Vice President ID Soni, State Commissioner, Scouts and Guides described Prabhakar as a great visionary who could foresee necessity of such a home for aged and infirm persons in the ever changing society. He was a well known social worker who made a significant contribution for care and upliftment of such needy and destitute persons.
The representatives of other social organizations like Swami Vivekananda Charitable Mission Hospital, J&K Samaj Kalyan Kendra, Bal/Balika Niketan Ved Mandir, Indian Red Cross Society, Help Age India, National Federation of the Blinds, Sewa Bharti, Association for Social Health in India, Gao Raksha Samiti, J&K Association for Welfare of Senior Citizens as well as some donors besides BB Gupta, Joint Secretary, Managing Committee members HS Manhas, Vijay Gupta, Nirmala Zutshi, OP Verma, KL Dubey, Dinesh Gupta and KK Mengi also participated in the programme.
Er Vijay Bhagotra, Honorary Secretary conducted the proceedings of the function and also presented vote of thanks.
