Special Squads conduct market checking, recover fine from defaulters

JAMMU, July 12: Special Checking Squads constituted under the supervision of Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC) Anuradha Gupta conducted market checking to prevent unfriendly consumer practices.
A team led by SDM South registered 8 cases and recovered Rs 20,700 fine. The team inspected eateries at Residency Road. Government has fixed Rs 35 for 400 grams rice and the trader namely Billo Di Hatti was selling it for Rs 60 thus, Rehari overcharging the consumers of Rs 25 per plate. Two challans were also made on unhygienic condition. The Legal Metrology Department team also seized number of duplicate chargers and mobile accessories. Cases registered for legal proceedings. The team also challaned four shopkeepers for not displaying rate lists.
The second team headed by SDM RS Pura checked 45 establishments, out of them 15 were challaned and Rs 18500 fine was recovered from them.
The third and fourth teams headed by SDM Khour challenged 6 auto drivers of Rs 100 per auto for traveling without meters. The teams also recovered Rs 4800 as fine from rehris, shopkeepers and auto drivers.
