Soz attends 148th Tree Talk Green Walk session

JAMMU, Sept 23: To spread tree familiarity and environmental consciousness among various stakeholders of the society, 148th Tree Talk Green Walk session was organised.
Former Union Minister and president JKPCC Prof Saif-ud-Din Soz also attended the 148th Tree Talk Green Walk session and planted Neem and Clove saplings in the flouriculture garden at Gandhi Nagar along with environmental crusader OP Sharma Vidyarthi, Yash Pal, Prof Botany, KK Sharma, Kulbhushan Sharma, Director Floriculture, besides other environmentalists and local populace.
Prof Soz, in his speech said that, in earlier times plants like Wopelhaak,Ubaji, Suchal, Pambhaak, Nunar, Kralmond, Vastuhaak and Lissa were used to be served in Kashmiri households.
Director Floriculture, Kulbhushan Sharma, said that Tree Talk initiative is going to have its 150 session in the University of Kashmir in the Wildlife week beginning October 2.
Referring to the National Tree of China, OP Sharma Vidyarthi, said that Ginkgo Biloba is a prehistoric tree dating back to Dinosaurs times, its trees planted at Hiroshima withstood harmful effects of nuclear radiations and trees are still surviving in Hiroshima.
Prof Botany Yash Pal, Former PCCF JK SD Swatantra and Radio PEX Ravi Kant Sharma, also expressed their views.
Among others present were Prof Romesh Atri from GDC Udhampur, Prof GA Malik from GWC Gandhi Nagar, Prof Lalitsen from Library Sciences, University of Jammu, etc.
