JAMMU, Sept 23: Former Minister and Congress leader Manjit Singh has asked all the political parties including BJP, NC and PDP, to clear their stand on the refugees’ issues which has remained unresolved for the last over six decades.
Addressing a public meeting at Kaku-De-Kothe village in tehsil Bishnah today, Mr Singh said though refugees of different categories have high hopes from the fresh initiative taken by the PCC president Prof Saif-ud-Din Soz by taking their issue with Prime Minister and UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi, yet the regional political parties must clear their stand on the issue.
Mr Singh also welcomed the day long exercise undertaken by the PCC chief Prof Soz along with Congress Ministers and  MP Madan Lal Sharma in hearing and discussing the issues with all categories of refugees including PoK, West Pakistan, Camp and Non Camp refugees here on Saturday. He demanded that refugees be given property and citizenship rights. The Government must go in for one time settlement of the refugees who are struggling for the last several decades.
“The BJP, NC, PDP, NPP and others should come clear on the issues of refugees as their silence has created doubts in the minds of the refugees”, Mr Singh said.
While raising the issue of compensation, he said that farmers whose land or fields situated ahead of ditch or fence are unable to cultivate their fields as the BSF men do not allow them to go there. Such people should be given compensation. He extended gratitude to Prof Soz for supporting the refugees.  Sarpanch Balbir Singh, Sarpanch Paras Ram, Naib Sarpanch Manjit Kour and others were also present and spoke on the occasion.
