SRINAGAR: Pilgrims, progressing smoothly, has picked up again as highest number of 10116 yatris, after recent violence, paid obeisance at the Amarnath cave shrine in south Kashmir Himalayas.
An official spokesman said here this evening that on the 13th day of 48-day-long yatra, 10116 pilgrims paid obeisance at the Holy Cave today.
Till date 1,55,320 Yatris had darshan at the shrine. Out of the pilgrims, who were injured in a road accident yesterday after medical treatment and discharge from Hospital, the Shrine Board arranged for the 15 injured yatris to return home by air.
The Shrine Board has also arranged to transport the body of the deceased by air today to his home town. Governor N N Vohra, who is chairman of shrine board has lauded the efforts of the residents of Halmulla, Bijbehara for coming forward promptly and spontaneously in rendering all the help in rescuing the Amarnath Yatris injured in the road accident.
The Governor has asked CEO P K Tripathi to provide ex-gratia relief of Rs 1 lakh each in favour of the next of kin of both the deceased. (UNI)
