In this global world of information & communication technology (ICT), there may be hardly anyone in the entire world that is not aware of Google and its related applications either PC desktop based or Laptop or mobile based. Google is an American multinational technology company specializing in Internet-related services and products. Google was founded by Larry Page and Sergey Brin in September 4, 1998. The total no. of employees? working in Google worldwide is approximately around 60,000 (Q2 2016). At present, it is headed by Indian born IITian’s – Sunder-Pichai – The CEO of Google. Since its inception about 17 years ago – Google has launched so many user related applications which include online advertising technologies, search engines, cloud computing, and software. Google Search, commonly referred to as Google web search or Google, is a web search engine owned by Google Inc. It is the most-used search engine on the www (World Wide Web), handling more than three billion searches each day. According to Google, more than 5 million organizations around the world use Google Apps, including 60 percent of Fortune 500 companies. The range of Google Apps for work products and services comprises Gmail, Google Calendar,—Google-Drive, Hangouts, Google-Docs, Google-Sheets, Google Slides, Google Forms, Google Sites, Google Plus, and Google Maps.
Google Hangouts :- is a free video chat service from Google that enables both one-on-one chats and group chats with up to ten people at a time. While somewhat similar to Skype, Face Time and Facebook video chat, Google Hangouts focuses more on “face-to-face-to-face” group interaction as opposed to one-on-one video chats, and utilizes sophisticated technology to seamlessly switch the focus to the person currently chatting.
Google Drive :- is a personal cloud storage service from Google that lets users store and synchronize digital content across computers, laptops and mobile devices, including android-powered tablet and smart-phone devices. As one might expect, Google Drive additionally provides advanced search capabilities for finding specific information within files and users can also share and collaborate with others on documents via the service’s built-in access to the Google Docs. suite of editing tools.
Google Contacts :- Google Contacts is a way to store and organize contact information about the people you communicate with. Each contact can contain basic information like names, email addresses, and phone numbers, but can also include extended information, like physical addresses, employer, department, or job title.
Google Plus :- Google+ is a social networking service from Google. The project is currently in limited release, and you must receive an invitation from Google or another Google+ member in order to join. The idea is pretty similar to other social networking services, but Google attempts to differentiate Google+ by allowing more transparency in who you share with and how you interact. It also integrates all Google services and displays a new Google+ menu bar on other Google services when you’re logged into a Google account.
Google Books :- Google Books (previously known as Google Book Search and Google Print) is a service from Google Inc. that searches the full text of books and magazines that Google has scanned, converted to text using optical character recognition, and stored in its digital database. Books are provided either by publishers and authors, through the Google Books partner program, or by Google’s library partners, through the Library Project. Additionally, Google has partnered with a number of magazine publishers to digitize their archives.
Google Play :- Google Play or Google Play Store, and originally the Android Market, is a digital distribution platform operated by Google. It serves as the official app store for the Android operating system, allowing users to browse and download applications developed with the Android SDK and published through Google. Google Play also serves as a digital media store, offering music, magazines, books, movies, and television programs.
Google Earth :- is a virtual globe, map and geographical information program that was originally called Earth-Viewer-(3D) – created by Keyhole Inc, a central intelligence agency (CIA) funded company acquired by Google in 2004. It maps the earth by the super-imposition of images obtained from satellite imagery, aerial photography and geographic information system (GIS) onto a 3D globe.
