Freight rates up on shortage of trucks

NEW DELHI, July 16:  Freight rates for nine-tonne pay load section displayed a firm trend at the local truck transport market in the national capital today following less availability of trucks against cargo movements.
Transporters said tight position of trucks in the market following blockage of roads due to monsoon rains, sparked by persistent arrivals of cargo, mainly brought the rise in freight rates.
Delhi to Gwalior, Guwahati, Kolkata and Mumbai rates rose by Rs 1000 each to Rs 16,500, Rs 60,000, Rs 34,000 and Rs 31,000.
Rates to Patna, Pune, Kanpur and Hyderabad also moved up by Rs 1000 each to Rs 27,000, Rs 32,000, Rs 23,000 and Rs 59,000.
