JAMMU, July 17: District Congress Committee Jammu (Urban) organized an impressive function at PCC headquarters here today to celebrate the 101st birth anniversary of veteran Congress leader Girdhari Lal Dogra.
President DCC Jammu (Urban), Anil Chopra presided over the function. It was attended by office bearers of district and block units. Former minister and PCC vice president Raman Bhalla was also present.
Paying rich tributes to Late Dogra, Anil Chopra described him as a truly committed Congressman who was dedicated to the cause of poor and downtrodden irrespective of caste, creed, colour, region or religion.
Mr Chopra said that he was one of tallest leaders of his time who rose from a humble background and always remained committed to the principles of secularism, socialism and democracy. He said that Dogra Sahib served the State in different capacities as Member of Constituent Assembly, Minister for Finance for about 27 years and twice Member Parliament. He was very respectable leader of the party who had direct access to the Congress high command.
PCC vice president Raman Bhalla said that Mr Dogra was the great personality of the State and his simplicity and commitment to the ideology of Congress Party would always be remembered. Moreover, people of the State cannot forget his services towards poor and needy people of the State. Mr Bhalla  asked the party men to follow the principles and philosophy of  GL Dogra to strengthen secularism, unity and integrity of the State.
Other prominent leaders who attended the function included Mansa Ram, BB Gupta, Dr Rama Kant Khajuria, Madan Lal Malager, Ram Parkash, Sunil Kumar, Gourav Chopra, GL Koul, Gautam Chowdhary, Manmohan Sharma, Naresh Maini, Parveen Singh, Pawan Dev Singh, Vijay Sharma, Vishal Sayal, Amrit Bali, Joginder Singh, Davinder Singh and others.
