REASI, July 20: One person was arrested today for smuggling a large quantity of liquor to holy town Katra while in another case, illicit liquor still was smashed at Pouni under the jurisdiction of Police Station Ransoo.
Acting on a specific information, a Police party, led by SHO Katra, Arvind Sambyal, intercepted a motorcycle JK02BF-9403, which was on way from Domel to Katra. During frisking, 80 poly pouches of J&K Excise liquor were recovered from the possession of motorcyclist, who was identified as Ajay Kumar of Dansal.
Police seized the liquor pouches as well as the motorcycle and also arrested the accused. A case under Section 48-A Excise Act has been registered in this connection at Police Station Katra.
In another success, a Police team, led by SHO Ransoo, Sub-Inspector Jasvinder Choudhary, raided the house of one Subash Chander at Theru, who was running an illicit liquor still. Police smashed the liquor still and seized 305 litres Lahan, which was destroyed on the spot.
Police arrested the accused and registered a case in this connection.
