JAMMU, July 21: Continu-ing their daily token strike, Class-IV employees of Jammu University today suspended their work for three hours and held strong protest demonstration in support of their demands.
Under the banner of Jammu University Non-Gazetted Employees Union (NGEU), the protesting employees took out a march on the campus and then assembled near the Administration block where a dharna was staged.
They raised slogans in support of their demands, which include removal of 2750 Grade, cancellation of order on disengagement of eight employees of Human Genetics Centre, creation of posts of different categories, etc.
Addressing the employees, president NGEU, Vijay Kumar strongly criticized the Jammu University administration for its alleged insensitive and callous approach towards the employees, who are demanding their right. He alleged that the university authorities were forcing them to continue the agitational path by adopting negative attitude on their demands.
The protest dharna was also addressed by other NGEU leaders, who vowed to continue the struggle till their demands are conceded.
Pertinent to mention that the JU Class-IV employees are on agitational path for the last more than one month and despite repeated appeals by the university authorities, including the Vice-Chancellor, the NGEU has refused to suspend the daily token strike.
