JAMMU, July 22: Panun Kashmir, an organisation of displaced Kashmiri Pandits fighting for separate homeland on North Eastern bank of river Vitasta (Jehlum) in Kashmir valley for over seven lakh displaced Kashmiri Pandits, today urged the Government of India to take immediate steps to prevent Kashmir from becoming another Islamist controlled territory like parts of Pakistan, Afghanistan, Syria or Iraq.
“The Government of India needs to shun its blinkers and recognise the fundamentalist upsurge in Kashmir and parts of Jammu as a part of global Jihad’’, PK convenor Dr Agnishekhar and its chairman, Dr Ajay Chrungoo told reporters here, today. “The open movement of dreaded terrorists of LeT, HM and JeM during the separatist protests is a warning that dangers to public order and democratic setup are very grave, they added.
Comparing the prevailing situation in Kashmir with Syria and Iraq, PK leaders demanded stern action against the terrorists and their mentors.
Alleging that polity in Kashmir was captured by the Islamists they said to evolve a proper response the Government of India needs to recognise it and deal with Islamist fundamentalists with iron hands so that no one dares to challenge India’s sovereignty and integrity.
It has happened because the entire spectrum of political parties operating in the State including National Conference, (NC) PDP, Congress and BJP have made accommodation with Muslim separatism and communalism as the cardinal feature of their politics, said Dr Ajay Chrungoo chairman PK.
“We urge the Government of India to take immediate steps to prevent Kashmir from becoming another Islamist controlled territory like parts of Pakistan, Afghanistan, Syria or Iraq,” he added.
Panun Kashmir however, warned both Congress and BJP to desist from hiding the religious fascist nature of the unrest in Kashmir.
“It is unfortunate that the political class represented by NC, PDP, Congress and BJP have allowed themselves to be reduced to mere over ground support structure of the Islamists waging a Jihad war in the State,” said Dr Agnishekhar.
He said many policies of the State and political parties have allowed nourishment of separatist organisations. The internal encouragement and support from within to separatists many times looks like an internal sponsorship, said Dr Agnishekhar.
Expressing concern over these policies and role of the State politicians Dr Ajay Chrungoo stressed that the State sponsored internal terrorism be dealt with seriously.
The PK leaders while hailing role of security forces fighting a proxy war in Valley with great valour and dedication, said from any yardstick of judgment anywhere in the world it will qualify as one of the most restrained response of security forces particularly when mobs were not hurling only stones and indulging in loot , plunder and arson and burning of the public and private properties but also using petrol bombs and in many instances hand grenades.
They said the seditious mobs have also indulged in genocidal religious cleansing attacks against Kashmiri Hindus living in Valley as also against Hindu pilgrims. They demanded immediate evacuation of Hindus living in Valley.
Senior PK Leader O N Trisal and its general secretary, Kuldeep Raina were also present in the press conference.
