16th martyr day of Dilip Singh observed

SAMBA, July 23: The 16th martyr day of Dilip Singh was observed at his native village in Chann Kanna, Samba, today.
On the occasion, former Minister Babu Singh was chief guest, while MLA Hiranagar Kuldeep Raj, former MLA Durga Dass, Former MLC Subhash Gupta, SDM Ghagwal N.K Sharma, Tehsildar Preeti Sharma and family members of Dilip Singh were also present on the occasion. Commanding Officer Rakesh Kumar along with other Army personnel also participated in the ceremony on the behalf of Indian Army.
They paid floral tributes to brave soldier, who scarified his life while defending Nation’s integrity on July 22 in 2000.
Speaking on this occasion, Babu Singh said that our real heroes have always played an important role in fighting militancy and maintain peace in the State and their sacrifice should not be forgotten in any condition.
MLA Kuldeep Raj also addressed the gathering and termed Dilip Singh’s martyrdom a great sacrifice for the motherland. On the occasion, cultural programme was presented by students of the school.
