POONCH, Sept 24 : The district administration today decided to ban across the counter sale of drugs and make it mandatory that the medicines are sold only on the prescription of a registered medical practitioner.
The decision was taken at a meeting of District Health Society(DHS) held here today under the chairmanship District Development Commissioner Poonch Ajeet Kumar Sahu.
Various important decisions were taken at the meeting to ensure better facilities and creation of modern infrastructure in the local health institutions, besides better regulation of sale of drugs in the market.
It was decided that steps would be taken so that no drug is sold without prescription of medical practitioner and boards in Urdu are installed at conspicuous places in the town in this connection.
All BMOs were directed to setup special control rooms where in services of Health officials, ICDS workers, Panchs and Sarpanchs be utilized to collect health data at village level.
The meeting also decided that neglected villages be identified that need focused attention with regard to medical facilities and health services. BMOs were instructed to organise blood donation camps within their jurisdiction for blood collection to meet the emergency situations.
Similarly the meeting decided to hold awareness camps to acquaint the people regarding healthcare schemes launched by the Govt.
