JAMMU, Sept 24 : Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation Raman Bhalla today said that the Government has formulated a comprehensive plan to improve education standards in the State so that the students could get quality education at their doorstep institutions.
The Minister was addressing a gathering after laying foundation stone for additional accommodation at newly upgraded Government High School at Barzalla, here today.
Chief Education Officer, Natha Ram Dingra, Headmistress Vijay Basin, Zonal Education Officer, besides other senior officers of Education Department were present on the occasion. Bhalla said the Government has earmarked Rs. 49.90 lakh each to all High Schools to upgrade infrastructure, including construction of additional room, laboratory, library, toilet block and other necessary accommodations, under Rashtriya Madyamik Shiksha Abhiyan (RAMSA).
The Minister said the Government has upgraded two Government Middle Schools of Chatha and Barazalla villages to High school. He said proposal for upgradation of Government High School, Raipur Satwari was under active consideration of the education authorities. Listing the projects taken up at Barzalla, Chatha, Raipur Satwari and its adjoining areas, the Minister said the Government has spent Rs 87 lakh on the construction of multipurpose community hall at Barzalla so that the villagers could celebrate their religious as well as social functions on nominal charges.
To reduce the distance from Chatha, Bhour Camp, Belicharana and other areas of localities to Bhagwati Nagar and Ware House, Bhalla said Government has sanctioned Rs. 147 crore for construction of 4-lane bridge over Niki Tawi, adding that the work on the project was under progress on war-footing and would be completed by December this year. At Bhour Camp, the Minister laid foundation stone for construction of culvert on way to Chatha-Bhour Camp road, coming up at an estimated cost of Rs 10 lakh. At Model Town, Bhalla also kick started upgradation work lanes and drains, for which Government has earmarked Rs 4.75 lakh.
