JAMMU, July 26: Agitated by the blatant disregard of Jammu region in the wake of prevailing crisis in the State, J&K National  Panthers Party activists spearheaded by  Harsh Dev Singh chairman and State president  Balwant Singh Mankotia staged a  protest demonstration against the Union Government for turning blind eye to the aspirations of the Dogras at Exhibition Ground here today.
While addressing the gathering,  Harsh Dev said that the people of Jammu Pradesh were hard core nationalists and the integration of J&K State with the Union of India was only possible due to supreme sacrifices of the Dogras. He said that the Union Government had overtly ignored Jammu region in the dialogue process in respect to the prevailing crisis in the State.
Expressing resentment over the recent two days visit of Union Home Minister to Kashmir, Mr Singh said that the Home Minister should have spared a day to interact with the representatives of Jammu based political parties, social organizations and civil society for addressing their grievances as Jammu region. He said that the successive Union Governments had lured the Jammu electorate for political gains and subsequently indulged in satisfying the needs and wants of the people of Kashmir by betraying the aspirations of the people of Jammu region. He said that this kind of blatant disregard will not be tolerated by the people anymore and Panthers party would ensure that Jammu region was also involved in any kind of decision making process.
Mr Mankotia rebuked the Union and the State Governments for their nonchalant attitude towards the issues and concerns of Jammu region. He said delimitation of Assembly constituencies, Dogra certificate to Jammu youth, State subject rights to West Pak refugees, adequate one time settlement package to PoJK displaced persons, State subject rights to daughters married outside the State,  ownership rights to the occupants of Custodian property, compensation to the flood hit Jammu farmers, rehabilitation of border residents to safer zones, ST status to Paharis, etc were the most cherished  aspirations of the people of Jammu region which were only exploited during the elections and later set aside. He said that these issues should also be discussed in any kind of dialogue process initiated by the Union Government and the people of Jammu should not be taken for granted now.
