Gun culture in democracy

Sir,
India is a big democratic country in the world where people irrespective of caste, creed and religion enjoy freedom of expression. People in all States of the country elect Governments of their choice. This is a continuous process since the day of independence. The State of Jammu & Kashmir fell in line in the process of choosing elected Govt in the State.
The State of Jammu & Kashmir went through many elections smoothly and peacefully where elected Govts came in power. Till the year 1986, people of the State lived in complete harmony and brotherhood. Kashmiriyat was found in letter and spirit of the people. In the meantime, the mindset of the majority people went a sudden change and concept of co-existence began to look bleak.
At that time situation went so bad that many temples in South Kashmir were damaged and minorities attacked. Things began to deteriorate day after day. KPs were labelled as agents of Central Govt and under this shadow were killed. Their property was either burnt or destroyed. It was total anarchy in the State. The elected Govt was a total failure. Here one is at a loss to understand on one side we vote for democracy and on the otherside we hold gun and pelt stone to demolish democratic institutions in the State. One fails to understand that there are many politicians in the State who take oath for the upholding of integrity and soveregnity of the country and later on betray. This dual policy undermines the spirit of the moral code of conduct. Gun culture creates fear among the people and is no solution to any problem.
Yours etc…
